Why do you need a Heart-Centered Voice Coach?

Has anyone else had some sort of identity or existential crisis in these last two years? 👋🏼

The pandemic, plus mom’s Alzheimers diagnosis and progression, losing my father, moving, altering the way the business runs - I think I encountered half of life’s top stressors in these 2 years. As grief and a little depression dug in, I found it hard to find joy in almost anything, even teaching and singing, which usually were my respite.

So, I questioned it all.

For any small business coaching practice, it is good to be clear about what specific work feeds your soul, and who your ideal clients are. This clarity feels extra necessary in times of distress.

Voice coaching can encompass so many aspects of personality/energy, stress/fear, insecurities, and it can be heavy work. And, I love it! It can also be fun and joyous and curious, and I love that!

The biggest shift that became apparent to me is that I no longer NEED to work only with singers. There is so much voice work that I do with clients that involves nervous system regulation, confidence strengthening, energy connections between heart and voice… and that work has become MY PASSION. I want to do more!

I used to do it all!

  • Teaching singing to the very beginner, ages 6-90

  • Re-training professionals in healthier ways to sing in order to have longevity,

  • Habilitating injured voices coming out of voice therapy rehab

  • Re-training classical singers who want to learn pop music styles

  • Music training from the amateur hobbyist adult to kids auditioning for music theatre

I’ve had a shift. I started referring my theatre kids to other teachers, as I don’t live in that realm anymore. I also realized that no matter what technical or artistic coaching someone is needing, I work best with those that are CURIOUS! Are you eager to learn and want to do the work? It will all be so much more meaningful when you do.

The voice is fascinating! Voice work encompasses heart, mind and body work. It’s an ever-changing instrument, and I love teaching people about how it all works, and then coaching people to find how they want to use it.

Singing was a life-saving activity for me. I like music as much as the next person, but it is the vibration activity that feeds my soul. Where we’re passionate is where the magic is.

What are you curious and passionate to learn?

  • If you need some healing around not believing you're good enough, I’d love to coach you. (Some wounds are too deep for me though; and I might recommend some therapy too.)

  • If you’re doing foundational building of learning how to use your voice, I’m your coach! I’m good at mechanical and technical

  • If you’re a professional voice user, and something doesn’t feel right and your stuck, let’s figure it out! I work with a great ENT team in CLT if we need to pull in the eyes; I’m your ears!

  • If you’ve been singing forever and it’s never been, or just recently, not been easy, let’s figure it out! I’m a good investigator.

  • If you’ve always wanted to sing and were afraid to, I would love to guide you.

  • If you have a heavy life-load and you want a creative respite, I’d love to share time with you! We can talk, sing, write, write a song. What are you up for?

  • If you trust me with your heart, we can make your voice shine.

  • If you are afraid to have difficult conversations with people in your life, and find your voice literally gets stuck, oooohhh, I’d love to work with you. I get that. And, that is rewarding (and scary) work.

My energy is low-key (I totally almost typed Loki; I’ve been on a Marvel kick lately). I am warm, and not real bubbly. I have an empathetic heart, and not a big cheerleader kind of person; just in case you need that; something to think about. I’m soft and easy, and funny too.

My desire is for you to make the sounds of your heart comfortably and confidently, in speech and/or singing.
